Haunbrinth

     “I want to go home,” she murmured to the wall, stretching her arms out, wishing she could fade through it, come out on its other side. “Please let me go home.
  Unfortunately, walls don’t have ears.

    At least, Mel doesn’t think they do.

      Although:

        after being trapped in an abandoned school
           building,                    

        being chased by wolves, and other, worse,
           creatures,

        having virtually nothing to eat

  Mel could very well lose her sanity

      and walls very well could start talking. Couldn’t they?

Six lives are thrown together in a giant mess of a heap when Mel and her friends are trapped inside an insane building. Thought buildings couldn't be insane? Think again. Walls change, awful creatures love to attack, and bits of floor cave in without any decent warning. Mel, communicating with the Haunbrinth through "shimmers," tries to understand the rules in time to escape. Before someone dies.

But the world they have been forced into is brutal and Mel begins to doubt that they will ever be able to go home.
