Meet Scotch, Jacqueline, Fido, and Amarilla. They each have their peculiarities (I mean, who loves ancient languages, herbs, and walking alone in the woods?) and their own fashion sense. (Really? You’re going to fight spakes in a hipster dress?) But all of them are willing to fight their evil stalking Spakes head-on with finesse and… Okay. Nevermind. They’re all klutzes and if they even manage to survive until the final book, it will be a miracle.
It begins with Scotch, who was minding her own business at school when the new boy begins to stalk her. And show up in her bedroom late at night. (So not cool.) Then there’s Jacqueline, who only wants to pass her Greek and Akkadian classes without getting caught up in any sort of relationship confusion. (Yeah, that worked well.) Fido ends up with the craziest spake alive, wondering why she always attracts the bizzarest of people. And Amarilla? Well… She likes to attend wakes in order to steal fancy shoes. Let’s just say she’s odd. All of them have to face the dangerous rising threat of the Spake “brethren” (as Jacqueline calls them) who are getting hungrier every day, and are threatening to wreak quite a bit of havoc. Lovely.
Scotch (named after the tape, not the alcohol) has a perfectly ridiculous life, spending time with a group of weirdo friends who write fantasy novels, just like she does. It’s a normal Thursday afternoon when Scotch begins to wonder if she is living inside a fantasy story, instead of writing one. The new kid from school (Obadiah) is kinda’ stalking her, and ends up (accidentally) becoming her boyfriend. Worse, he breaks into her room late at night and gives her the most lovely news imaginable. He’s a mythologically real creature named a Spake and it’s his duty to protect her. That is, right before he has to kill her in a complicated ritual including spices like calamus and cinnamon. When her two best friends, Jacqueline and Anastasia, are attacked in the woods, Scotch is the only one who can rescue them. Unfortunately that would mean trusting Obadiah, the creepy, annoying, stalker dude. Banana nut muffins. Life is worse than hippos sometimes.
A YA fantasy to be enjoyed by All Ages (let's keep it clean, people.) Will be a series of four, possibly. Also, I would like to one day write stories from the perspectives of the Spakes. Obadiah's backstory is fascinating.
Also, my friend is currently working on an Unnamed Project that will work itself into the series. Actually, maybe two.
Plus I have a stand alone book that includes Spakes about a true to life Psychotic person, which I am super excited about. I don't know if I'll actually write it *shrugs* but I can dream.
Spakes are everywhere. Make sure you take a careful look at those shadows in the woods. it just might be a creature coming after you to KILL YOU WITH DEATH!!!! Mwaahahahahaha >:)
